Veryant Announces new isCOBOL version.

Veryant is pleased to announce the latest release of isCOBOL Evolve, isCOBOL Evolve 2012 R2. isCOBOL Evolve provides a complete environment for the development, deployment, maintenance, and modernization of COBOL applications. isCOBOL 2012 R2 includes several enhancements to the isCOBOL Integrated Development Environment (IDE), debugger improvements, and other new features.

• New Setup.
  THIN setup to redistribute isCOBOL Client on Windows machines where neither Java nor isCOBOL are installed.
  MULTI setup to install and generate isCOBOL components on UNIX platforms where a tgz is not provided by Veryant.
  
  
• isCOBOL IDE Enhancements.
  The ability to create the first workspace through a wizard procedure. The ability to manage JavaBeans events in the Screen Section. The capability to set up and launch a Thin Client session.
  
  
• Enhancement in compatibility with Acucobol-GT and Micro Focus COBOL.
  Native read-only support for the Vision filesystem especially useful for data conversion with the isMIGRATEutility. Go TO statement to jump outside of Declaratives. File Connector for Vision (vfc) and Micr Focus (mfc) to manage their data files in a safe way by interfacing their runtime environment. New routine CBL_CHANGE_DIR. New compiler option -cko to generate keys in offset order in dictionary files. Support fo Micro Focus sequential files with variable lenght records.
  
  
• Debugger Improvements.
  The ability to display the content of 78 level items and the special register exception-object. Different colouring for nested copybooks. The ability to change monitors notify condition.
  
  
• New graphical user interface features.
  The ability to show graphical controls in GRID cells all of the time (not only during MSG-BEGIN-ENTRY event). New property ROW-HEADING-LINE-HEIGHT for the GRID control, allows to produce multiline heading. New property BITMAP-DISABLED-SELECTED for CHECK-BOX and RADIO-BUTTON controls.
  
  
• Improvements in Object Oriented Programming (OOP).
  Ability to define public constants in OO programs thorugh unnamed methods. Ability to invoke methods with a variable number of arguments. Improved the Compiler error message when OO methods are not found.
  
  
• Improvements in the Thin Client Technology.
  The ability to manage Sequential and Relative files remotely with the isCOBOL File Server. A more complex Administration Panel that allows to monitor files as well as users.
  
  
• Improvements in Web Direct 2.0.
  The new GRID property HEADING-MENU-POPUP to disable/enable the pop-up menu. The support for drop-list combo-box and transparent label.
  
  
• Other improvements.
  Full support for national group data items. Support for multi-record files in COBFILEIO Utiity.
