|Title: Is the isCOBOL 2009 SP1 release intended to deploy mainframe applications over the cloud? Or is it an integration mechanism for bringing in cloud data and apps?|
|Thus far, the majority of customers deploying isCOBOL are part of the $200M+ open systems COBOL market (Windows, UNIX, Linux). Mainframe COBOL customers moving to Veryant have been electing to deploy isCOBOL on open systems. Our new product, isCOBOL Web Direct 2.0 -- available with latest release of isCOBOL -- is aimed at deploying the graphical user interface (GUI) of COBOL applications on the cloud, specifically in SaaS scenarios, without having to re-engineer an application or learn a new programming language, AJAX or Web programming.
It has been our experience that the majority of mainframe applications have a user interface that is not implemented in COBOL itself, so the isCOBOL Web Direct 2.0 offering in isCOBOL may not be deployed by these customers.
