Is the isCOBOL 2009 SP1 release intended to deploy mainframe applications over the cloud? Or is it an integration mechanism for bringing in cloud data and apps?
Thus far, the majority of customers deploying isCOBOL are part of the $200M+ open systems COBOL market (Windows, UNIX, Linux). Mainframe COBOL customers moving to Veryant have been electing to deploy isCOBOL on open systems. Our new product, isCOBOL Web Direct 2.0 -- available with latest release of isCOBOL -- is aimed at deploying the graphical user interface (GUI) of COBOL applications on the cloud, specifically in SaaS scenarios, without having to re-engineer an application or learn a new programming language, AJAX or Web programming.
It has been our experience that the majority of mainframe applications have a user interface that is not implemented in COBOL itself, so the isCOBOL Web Direct 2.0 offering in isCOBOL may not be deployed by these customers.
