Sintecop S.p.A. has provided administrative software applications to local governments and small and medium-sized businesses in Italy since 1980. When the respected company wanted to offer a Java version of its COBOL application, Sintecop turned to Veryant, whose isCOBOL Application Platform Suite (APS) was used to add Java capability, preserve COBOL assets, and remove uncertainty over support and pricing from a previous COBOL supplier.
Business Drivers: Sintecop wanted add flexibility to its application while reducing annual COBOL software licensing fees. The company did not want its existing customers to lose their current application and data investments and was concerned about the future of ACUCOBOL-GT.
Solution: After learning of the portability of isCOBOL APS, Sintecop decided that a move to the isCOBOL platform would deliver platform independence for its application while leveraging a single code base. Sintecop selected several components of isCOBOL APS, including the isCOBOL Compiler, isCOBOL Server for thin client computing, and isCOBOL ISAM Server.
