Question Title How do I use Java Web Start to automatically download and launch the thin client?

Question:

How do I get Java Web Start? How do I set it up? Can you provide a step-by-step guide?

Answer:

Java Web Start is included in Java 1.8, but not in Java 11 or later. If you're using Java 1.8 you can find step-by-step instructions in the isCOBOL Application Server documentation, under "Client deployment/ Deployment through Java Web Start (JavaWS)".

If you use Java 11 or later, you'll need to use another method to deploy and launch the thin client. One alternative we suggest is through the automatic client update and .istc files.
There are detailed instructions for this method of deployment in the same documentation, under "Client deployment/Deployment through automatic client update and istc files".
